For the UMI Conference 2022, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd partnered with XR Horizon to build an immersive Virtual Reality experience that showcased both the Kochi Metro and Kochi Water Metro in a digital environment. Visitors could virtually board the metro, travel through scenic routes, and experience the city’s future mobility systems firsthand. The VR simulation helped audiences understand how integrated rail and water transport will redefine urban movement in Kochi.
Challenge & Solution
Developing a digital twin of the Kochi Metro and the newly introduced Water Metro posed both creative and technical challenges. The Water Metro, being an innovative and unfamiliar transport model, required careful storytelling to communicate its purpose, environmental benefits, and seamless connection to Kochi’s waterways.

Our Process
XR Horizon offers the Industrial Training VR Solutions in India and our team initiated the project with comprehensive data collection, gathering detailed photographs, blueprints, and references for metro stations, trains, boats, and route maps. This was complemented by extensive research into station layouts, waterway paths, and the surrounding environment. Leveraging advanced 3D modelling, the team meticulously recreated the trains, stations, and waterway routes were represented in great detail. Finally, animation was integrated to accurately simulate movement both for the trains and boats, and for environmental elements.
Result Driven
The VR experience created for Kochi Metro Rail Ltd became a standout attraction at UMI Conference 2022. It allowed the people to explore the future of transportation in a highly engaging and innovative way.
